Something we all need to bear in mind.

charles french words reading and writing

Here are a few quotations about creating first drafts to inspire all of us to keep writing:

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”

                                                               Mark Twain

“You might not write well every day,

but you can always edit a bad page.

You can’t edit a blank page.”

                                                                 Jodi Picoult

“Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it’s the     only way you can do anything really good.”

                                                                      William Faulkner.

  2. Good ones – all.

Here’s one I use quite often – perhaps a bit more colourful but similar to Jodi Picoult’s suggestion: Throw the crap on the wall. It might be crap but at least now you’ve something to clean up 🙂

  3. All true! Not a problem for me at the moment as the third novel is trying to pull the story out of me faster than I’m able to keep up! I love the potential and possibility of an unfolding first draft 😀
