‘No.’

‘But I love him.’

‘Don’t be ridiculous. You’ve known him five minutes.’

‘I met him last week.’

‘What colour are his eyes?’

‘Brown. I think. He’s clean and tidy. He doesn’t smell. Pleeeeeease.’

‘No, Lisa. You are not having a tortoise.’

    • 🙂 That makes me smile. When I read the question on Sunday, the only thing I could come up with was ‘no’. Then mum was saying no about a man, but that was a too obvious. Thankfully, this morning this divisive character crawled into view.

    • Thank you. Glad to know the twist worked – I’m never confident with twists.

    • I sympathise with this child. I begged for a cat or a dog – all we ever had were goldfish, which we tended to over feed and kill quickly. So maybe Mum was right not to let us have anything with legs.
