#VisDare: 35 – Ephemeral – Delayed Journey

I concentrated on the word this week for Angela’s VisDare Challenge at Anonymous Legacy. Maybe it was having the definition pushed me along those lines. I like the photo though.

Delayed Journey (150 words)

The carriage pulling away from the opposite platform gives the illusion that our train is finally moving. As I look at the fortunate passengers, a chin catches my eye. A pointy chin, surmounted by an arching nose and raisin eyes. A flash, and the face is gone, too fast to see whether the chin sprouted whiskers, but I’m sure there was a greenish tinge to its outline. The old, unloved hag of nightmares is stealing away into suburbia. Was she ever a beauty, a sorceress who wooed and enchanted? Has her wickedness, or evil deeds, caused her degradation and descent into ugly decrepitude? What will she do to the innocents in the Shires?

Our train is still stationary, and crowded with suits looking angrily at their watches. We’ve been waiting over an hour for someone to tell us what’s happening. Am I going to get home tonight? What’s for tea?
