#VisDare 33 – Indifferent – Summer Rain

Angela’s VisDare photos at Anonymous Legacy are always so enigmatic, so I tend to focus on the word she gives us instead.

Summer Rain (149 words)

‘The weather’s so dull today,’ Percy announced, disinterested.

And so are you, thought Miranda as she watched him take a perfunctory look over the damp garden before he returned to his book.

So what if the clouds were grey and it looked like rain. That wasn’t dull. Rain brought life to trees and plants; too much of it flooded rivers and streams that spread havoc and mayhem.

Her brother’s incurious, easy-going nature riled her, as usual. Miranda didn’t want to be ordinary, like Percy. She didn’t think life should be only passable.

If Percy was luke warm, Miranda was hot. If Percy was to life as drizzle, then Miranda was going to blow through it like a storm, thundering to shake people awake, flashing lightening to draw their gaze.

She snapped her own book shut. Percy jumped. ‘Sorry,’ she said, ‘I have a need to do something exciting.’

  1. Funny how different blood relations can be! I’m with Miranda on this one.

    • I think Miranda’s a lot of fun, and a bit of a handful at the same time. It is odd how different siblings can be.

  2. Such an interesting take on this Sarah, I would have never come up with a story line as this. I didn’t enter this challenge because I couldn’t think of anything (Sorry VisDare) ahhhh siblings love ’em or hate ’em (said in my true Auzzie accent) 🙂 xx

    • It took a while to come up with anything! I can’t always see the connection between the photo and the word, so concentrate on the word. This week I resorted to the thesaurus and then worked laterally from the umbrellas to rain. On the sibling side of things, I’m sure Miranda loves Percy, just finds him annoying. What little brother isn’t? 😉

    • So true. The photos do take you to different places. I should probably try harder to link the two.
      Thanks for stopping by.
